At Dameron Hospital, volunteers help provide the special touch that can make a difference in a patient's stay. Volunteering offers an opportunity for seniors, retirees, professionals, homemakers, and students to become involved in our community. Flexible scheduling is available.
The Heart of the Hospital
For nearly 50 years, the volunteers have been the "heart" of Dameron Hospital. Since 1957, volunteers have amassed over 700,000 hours of hospital service and donated over $1 million for the purchase of major medical equipment.
Since that first meeting, the group has gone on to provide more than just hours and money. Each four-hour shift, auxiliary volunteers walk an average of four-and-a-half-miles; each year they deliver more than 5,000 plants, flowers, and balloons to patients.
