What is happening at Dameron?
Welcome to the summer issue of Health Outlook! This is a great time to celebrate the longer days ahead as we enjoy more opportunities to pursue fun activities with family and friends that help us stay healthy and fit while remaining safe.
As we move forward under Adventist Health's management, we have been able to make remarkable progress in enhancing the level of care, services and programs available to our patients and the community, despite the many challenges we faced together in 2020. Overall, we are in a very good place, thanks to the determination and resilience of our community. We're delighted to be a part of San Joaquin County, and, along with Adventist Health Lodi Memorial Hospital, we are fully committed to inspiring health, wholeness and hope at every opportunity in our thriving community — by offering new services, excellent care and the latest technology to meet your healthcare needs.
Breakthrough imaging system for spine surgery
Dameron Hospital has the distinction of being the first hospital in the country to use the Active X Spine Surgery Imaging System. This state-of-the-art imaging system uses computerized motion-tracing technology to give surgeons a precise, real-time reference for their instruments relative to the spine. Previously, surgeons would rely on a series of X-ray images to establish their point of reference for their instruments as they operated on the spine. Pausing for multiple X-ray images lengthens the duration of the procedure and increases the level of radiation exposure to everyone. We are honored to be selected by Active X as their pilot launch site for this exciting new approach to spine surgery imaging because of our demonstrated excellence in surgery and highly experienced team of professionals.
Novel surgical approaches for complex patient issues
One way we're delivering surgical excellence at Dameron for the community is by harnessing the capabilities of our state-of-the-art da Vinci Xi robotic surgery system. The system enhances our surgeons' ability to perform minimally invasive procedures that result in shorter hospital stays and faster recovery times. Recently our robotic surgery expert, Dinesh Vyas, MD, MS, FACS, was able to creatively resolve a patient's challenging situation involving an unusual fusion between the spleen and stomach. Because of Dr. Vyas' excellent skills as a surgeon and the capabilities of our surgical robot technology, this patient has not only regained his health but is also enjoying an improved quality of life.
Some health issues can be resolved by simply getting a prescription or undergoing a medical procedure, but many cases also require additional therapy to fully regain your health and quality of life.
Dameron Hospital's Rehabilitation Services has partnered with PT Solutions Physical Therapy to meet your physical therapy, occupational health and speech therapy needs across our outpatient, acute care and inpatient settings. PT Solutions' clinical excellence and dedication to delivering positive patient outcomes and improving the health of our community aligns perfectly with our own organizational objectives. We are delighted to have them as our partners in health.
If you have any questions about our services or want to let us know how we can serve you better, please give us a call or visit our website. As your community hospital, we exist to meet all of your healthcare needs. We look forward to the opportunity to serve you.
Yours in health,
